I am the only candidate with proven qualifications, prove results, and proven experience! I’ve been working with the Lake County Board since 2020. Only candidate for LCB District 17 that can hit the ground running on day one. Only candidate that has previous legislative experience & experience working with the Lake County Board. Currently on LCB Stormwater Commission. I have working relationships with all the area Mayors & elected officials that represent the residents of LCB District 17.
I am a Write-In candidate; I am the most experienced and qualified person for that job!
BACK STORY:
In 2024 & 2025 before petition filing deadline, I had four direct discussions with County Board Member Mike Danforth and Joe Salvi on this topic. I expressed my interest in filing petitions for the seat if Danforth was not running. Danforth filed his petition on the first day and then Joe Salvi filed his petition on the last day. Both knew of my interest in running for this seat.
I thought it strange that Joe filed to run against an incumbent.
My suspicions were confirmed when Danforth withdrew on December 18th his candidacy for Lake County Board District 17.
Write-In campaign is difficult to wage. I believe that Republican Primary voters are smart enough to understand the issues & weigh the merits of each candidate.
I felt called to run. I don’t believe in political coronations. Voters deserve a real choice, not decisions made behind closed doors. I don't believe in backroom deals. Voters deserve the most qualified candidate, not a preselected one.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of voting for me as a WRITE IN, as the most qualified candidate for Lake County Board District 17, who just happens to be a Republican woman that is currently a 7 year elected official as Village of North Barrington President and a women of service.
God Bless,
Eleanor
Eleanor Sweet McDonnell - WRITE IN Candidate: Lake County Board District 17

I need your WRITE IN vote for Lake County Board District 17. **** Color in the circle and write my name in: Eleanor Sweet McDonnell. Thank you for going the extra mile to vote my in as a WRITE IN. Eleanor
Voting Options: If you want to make sure you’re able to vote, vote early by mail or in person to avoid any complications.
1) Vote by Mail (also known as Absentee Ballot). This method allows you to receive a ballot by mail that you can complete at home and return in the mail to the Lake County Clerk, or you can drop it off in a locked drop box (locations included with vote by mail ballot). Many of you have already received an application for the vote by mail ballot in the mail. You can fill this application out and mail it back to receive the ballot. If you haven’t received the application by mail, you can request a ballot at:
a) www.lakecountyil.gov/351/voter-power-for-registered-voters and fill out the required information, and then on the next screen, click on “request a ballot by mail.” You can also track your ballot in real time on this site.
b) Or call the Lake County Clerk at 847.377.8683 to receive an application by mail.
Vote by mail ballots will be mailed on or after February 5, 2026, depending on when they receive your application. You can track your returned ballot at the same lakecountyil.gov website listed above to make sure it’s received by the Lake County Clerk.
**If you choose to vote by mail, make sure you complete the ballot, place it in the inner certification envelope included, and sign your name on the outside of the envelope in the signature rectangle. They can not accept your ballot without that signature because that’s how they certify the ballot is valid (just as they compare your signature at the polling place with your original signature when you registered to vote). Then place the certification envelope inside the return envelope and put it in the mail.
***If you’re voting by mail, return it early to allow for delays and to resolve any mistakes (like forgetting to sign the certification envelope).
If you are concerned about the coronavirus preventing you from voting during early vote or on election day, you can apply for your ballot, hold on to it and then take the blank ballot with you to vote in person during the early voting time frame or on election day. Give your blank vote by mail ballot to the election judge, and they will destroy it and give you a ballot to use at the polls.
